On March 11, 2005, the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System filed a federal lawsuit against infringers of the '112 Patent in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division. The '112 Patent, titled "Character Pattern Recognition and Communications Apparatus," was co-invented by

Dr. George V. Kondraske, a Professor of Electrical Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington. The '112 Patent is owned by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System.
